About Renee

I have experience tutoring students long-term. This includes a student I tutored from primary school to secondary school, and, two students from secondary school into A-Level during my time as an undergraduate. The primary school student has now completed her GCSE's and awaiting results, and, both secondary students are now in university, one of whom is going into her third year studying Law.

I have also taught workshops for adults within the University of London where I presented a series of lectures about literature from America, the Caribbean and Africa meaning I have broad scope on the literature, from different cultures across history which is important when studying literature that is written outside of the UK, or by British authors who have roots outside of the UK.

I am very patient and sensitive to different learning styles which is why my first lesson with you is free. There is never one way to learn, neither do I believe that learning should take a "one size fits all" approach. For example, some students prefer to learn with a book in their hand, whereas, others are more visual and like diagrams, art, moving images. So, based on your style, not only will I help you with English, I will give you tips and techniques you can use in future that will make revision and essay writing less daunting, and more enjoyable!

Welcome to my profile!

I have two degrees relating to literature. My first is a 2:1 BA (Hons) in English Literature, and, the second is my Master's Degree in African Studies (majority of which concerned African Literature, including literature from America and the Caribbean). Therefore, I am qualified and experienced enough to share knowledge, tips, and simple tricks that will help you achieve a First in your dissertation, or, general essay assignments as all my Master's essays (including dissertation) were awarded Distinctions, so, I look forward to helping you achieve top marks too!

The first hour will be free because I want to use this time to get to know you personally. So, the questions I will ask you will relate to finding out your learning styles, your interests, strengths, weaknesses and aspirations. Such questions are my way of finding out how I can custom my lessons to you personally. I will also ask you to send a copy of your recent assignments; one with your best grade, one with your lowest grade, and if you so choose, another essay or assignment that you are the most proud of so I can see for myself the level you are working at and what you need to do to boost your grade.

I can tutor English and Sociology students at GCSE level, to, undergraduate university level English Literature. I can also help with GCSE essays, projects and dissertations up to Master's Level.
