About Solara

I am a mathematician, educator, and applied researcher with nearly three decades of teaching experience across universities and institutions in Sudan, and more recently, delivering fully online mathematics programs to students scattered across sixteen examination centers in multiple countries.
My academic background is in applied mathematics and stochastic analysis. Alongside my teaching, I have spent years applying quantitative methods and mathematical modeling to real problems in public health, organizational development, and international development, working with institutions including USAID and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. I am a member of the American Mathematical Society and a Chartered HR Consultant, which means I bring both the mathematical rigor and the human understanding of how people actually learn and develop.
I have taught mathematics at every level, from students encountering the subject for the first time to postgraduate researchers building models for their doctoral work. I have done this in lecture halls, in remote online environments with unstable connections and students working across time zones, and one to one. The subject and the student both get my full attention.
I have seen students who were convinced they could not do mathematics discover that they simply had never been taught it properly. That moment, when something that felt impossible becomes obvious, is what keeps me teaching after thirty years.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for university and postgraduate students, working professionals who need quantitative methods or mathematical modelling for their research or work, and anyone who was told at some point that they are not a maths person. That last group especially. They are almost always wrong about themselves, and I enjoy proving it.
A typical session runs as context and story first, then concept in ascending layers, then application. Questions are welcome at every stage, and I will be wrong in front of you if that is what it takes to show you that mathematics is a living, arguable thing, not a set of rules handed down from authority.
I build the concept in layers, starting from the most intuitive version a child could grasp, and moving upward in complexity until we reach the level the student actually needs. By the time we arrive at the formal mathematics, it feels like a natural destination.
I close every topic with a real-world application. Seeing where the idea lives outside the textbook is what turns understanding into aha moments.
