About Claire
I'm experienced teaching a wide range of ages from young adults to graduate-level students. I am successful in teaching writing in a wide range of content areas including literature, science, and business. One of the reasons why I'm good at this is because of my innate curiosity. I have never failed to learn from my students' interests and specialties. Another reason is that I too am driven to be successful. When my students are successful, I feel I have helped them to accomplish their goal and mine. Better grades, improved reading comprehension, improved speech comprehensibility, brighter futures. These are why I teach.

My teaching philosophy is to meet students where they are. I have no 'one size fits all' template no matter if it's grammar, reading, writing, or accent reduction. Across all skills I start with a conversation to assess a student's strengths and weaknesses, and ask what the student's needs and goals are. For example, if a student needs help with essay writing, I begin by asking the student to share a previous essay they have written. I will also ask the student to share their instructor's assignment directions and grade criteria.
