About Eldwin
I am an incoming Master's student in Biology at UC San Diego. I double majored in pure mathematics and cell biology as an undergraduate. I used to work as an Supplemental Instruction Leader for Single and Multi- Variable Calculus at UC San Diego. As an S.I. leader, I attended lectures, created lesson plans based on the lecture material, and led three 50- minute learning sessions per week that provide additional help and problems related to mathematical concepts that were taught during lectures. I also held Study Marathon Sessions with other S.I. leaders to help students prepare for their examinations. I also did private tutoring for elementary and middle school students in Algebra and Geometry.

My teaching methodology is based on Bloom's Taxonomy. I first provide them the basic information they need to know on a certain topic. This acts a refresher for students who have seen the material before and corresponds to the lower levels of Bloom's Taxonomy- the ability to remember and understand ideas and concepts. Next comes the problem solving session, the most important part of the lesson. By applying what they learn in practice problems with clear justification of how they get to the answer, students understand and grasp the material better. These problems not only increases in difficulty, but also challenges students to draw connections from previously related topics or focuses on theoretical aspects. This part corresponds to higher levels of the taxonomy- the ability to analyze, apply, and evaluate.
