About Mara

I’m a dedicated guitar tutor with 5 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music, specializing in Guitar. My approach to teaching is holistic, blending technical skill with mindful body awareness to create well-rounded musicians. I incorporate movement techniques like the Alexander Technique and focused breathing exercises to help students play more freely and prevent tension. Visual learning plays a key role in my lessons I use diagrams and fretboard maps to make complex concepts clear and accessible. Alongside this, I provide auditory playbacks to train the ear and reinforce musical understanding.
Performance anxiety is something many musicians face, so I work closely with students to develop strategies that build confidence on stage and in practice. Technique is important, but I believe true mastery comes from feeling grounded in both mind and body. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, my goal is to support your growth with patience and encouragement. I’m passionate about guiding students to discover their unique voice while maintaining a healthy, sustainable approach to playing.
