About Gowri

Hi, I’m Gowri, a guitar tutor from Kerala, with over five years of experience teaching beginners. I started teaching guitar as a side hustle, but over the years, it has become a core part of who I am. Teaching guitar has not only allowed me to share my love for music but has also taught me patience, creativity, and the joy of helping others learn.

As a guitar instructor, I believe learning is a two-way process. I’m constantly working on improving my own skills to become a better teacher and musician. I also provide personalized guitar classes, focusing on helping each student understand the instrument, build strong fundamentals, and play their favorite songs confidently.

If you’re a beginner looking to learn guitar from scratch, I offer friendly, structured lessons that make learning fun and effective.

If you’re looking to play the guitar and sing along confidently, you’re in the right place. Over the past five years of teaching experience, I’ve identified the three main challenges that stop most people from playing and singing at the same time — and I’ll help you overcome each one step by step.

I’m a patient and interactive guitar tutor, and I always welcome feedback during sessions. My classes are practical and hands-on, focusing only on the essential theory you actually need to strum and sing smoothly. I’ll match the pace of the lessons to your comfort level, making sure you fully understand every concept before moving ahead.

You don’t need any printed books or heavy theory lessons — everything will be interactive, engaging, and beginner-friendly. Whether you’re starting from scratch or want to improve your rhythm and coordination, I’ll guide you throughout the process and make sure you stay on track.

If you’ve always wanted to learn guitar while singing your favorite songs, I can help you get there in a simple and enjoyable way!

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I got into playing the guitar back in high school, and it all began with some good old fun. I vividly remember those days when I'd pick up the guitar, strumming away for hours. It became a go-to hobby whenever I had free time. Once I got the hang of playing the guitar, I decided to branch out a bit. That's when I dipped my toes into the world of the ukulele. It's been quite a journey ever since, and I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the unique charm of both instruments.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Teaching has always been my passion. It started when I tutored my sister during my school days, despite struggling with patience at first. Over time, I've honed this skill, and my students can attest to my patience. Teaching is incredibly engaging, and it's not just about imparting knowledge; it also fuels my personal growth. The process of helping others learn and grow has made me a better person, both in terms of patience and understanding. This is why I'm motivated to continue teaching - it's fulfilling, and it brings out the best in me.
  • How does your work help society?

Teaching guitar and ukulele is my way of contributing to society by helping individuals express themselves through music. Learning to play these instruments empowers students to convey their emotions and creativity through melodies and chords, which I find incredibly rewarding. Witnessing their growth as they overcome challenges and gain a new skill boosts not only their musical confidence but also their overall self-assurance. It's fulfilling to see this newfound confidence positively affect different aspects of their lives. Furthermore, I take pride in being part of their musical journey, offering them a lifelong source of enjoyment and relaxation that enhances their mental well-being and contributes to the happiness of our community.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

My hobbies encompass a diverse range of interests that keep me engaged and fulfilled. Reading opens doors to new worlds and ideas, expanding my knowledge and imagination. Watching movies allows me to explore different narratives and perspectives, offering both entertainment and insights. I find joy in capturing moments through photography, being both the observer and the muse, which fuels my creativity. Moreover, I am dedicated to continual self-improvement by actively seeking opportunities to learn and grow. These hobbies not only provide me with relaxation and enjoyment but also contribute to my personal development.
