About Roisin
I’m a native English speaker, aged 28, with a strong passion for the English language and a deep interest in how it’s taught and used. Having studied French, German, and Spanish as part of my undergraduate degree in Applied Languages, I understand first-hand the challenges that come with learning a foreign language, from grammar and vocabulary to confidence and communication. This experience has made me a more empathetic and supportive teacher and I aim to help my students overcome any difficulties they’re experiencing, whether it's in speaking, writing, comprehension, or pronunciation. I’m committed to making lessons both effective and enjoyable, while building learners' confidence every step of the way.

My teaching style is student-centered and highly adaptable, as I believe every learner has different goals, strengths, and learning preferences. I take time to understand what each student needs - whether it's improving confidence in speaking, preparing for an exam, or focusing on grammar - and I design individualized lessons based on those specific goals. In terms of methodology, I use a communicative and task-based approach, prioritizing real-world use of language through conversation, role plays and interactive activities. I also integrate grammar and vocabulary in context so students understand how to apply what they’ve learned. I often use multimedia (videos, podcasts, articles) to keep lessons dynamic and relevant. A typical lesson lasts between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the student’s schedule and attention span. This allows time for a warm-up, the main focus of the lesson and feedback or consolidation activities at the end. I hold an undergraduate degree in Applied Languages (French, German, and Spanish) and a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have several years of experience teaching English to learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, both in Ireland and online. My lessons are suitable for teenagers or adults, from beginner to advanced level and I always aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment that helps learners build confidence and make steady progress.
