About Saikat

If you can play a few chords but cannot yet make your guitar sound like a complete song, I can help you become an independent fingerstyle guitarist.

I teach fingerstyle as a complete musical system, combining melody, harmony, rhythm and bass on one instrument.

Rather than following a fixed curriculum, I identify what is holding you back: whether it is technical difficulty, timing, musicality, confidence or understanding arrangements; and create a learning path suited to your level and goals.

I mentor through music you genuinely want to play, with every exercise, technique and song serving a clear purpose. Instead of merely memorizing arrangements, you will understand how they work and develop the skills to learn and adapt them independently.

I have taught more than 500 students worldwide, including highly followed fingerstyle guitarists on Instagram and YouTube. This experience has shown me that progress comes not from practicing more, but from practicing the right things in the right order.

Whether you want to play solo arrangements, accompany yourself, perform, create your own music or understand fingerstyle guitar, the goal is the same:

To help you understand what a song requires, identify what is holding you back, practice intelligently and continue learning without constantly depending on a teacher, tutorial or someone else’s tabs.

My goal is to give you the understanding, tools and confidence to become your own teacher.

Every student starts from a different point, so I don't believe in forcing everyone through the same fixed course.

In the first stage, we identify your current level, your musical goal and the specific obstacles holding you back. From there, I create a practical learning path that fits your schedule, including if you are a busy professional with limited time.

Instead of overwhelming you with dozens of techniques or assigning practice that feels like another burden, we focus on the smallest set of skills that will create the biggest improvement in your playing.

Your practice is designed to be efficient, focused and realistic. Even with a busy schedule, you can make meaningful progress through short, purposeful sessions rather than spending hours repeating exercises without knowing whether they are helping.

You learn through songs you actually want to play, while gradually developing the technique and musical understanding required to play them independently. In many cases, you will begin to see clear, noticeable results within just a few weeks.

The objective is not simply to finish lessons.

The objective is to help you become capable of learning and playing music on your own, without making guitar practice feel like another obligation.

Classes can be conducted online and are suitable for beginners as well as guitarists who already have experience but feel stuck.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Music was a minor part of my grown ups but somehow it had an indirect effect on my mind and towards my passion in arts. I used to play football (Soccer) when I was young and used to find art in the style of playing. I found rhythm in playing, passing, juggling and even while walking. I had to discontinue playing football and that's when I realized I had a growing passion for Music and musical instruments. So I started with a Guitar and found out all the transcendental influences from my childhood when my family members used to culture music and art. Since then I never looked back. I embraced music and art as a part of my life.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Teaching was my hobby from the very childhood and the reason is obvious- My father is a teacher himself. He was also a teacher's trainer. My fundamental psychology and character was influenced by his teachings greatly. He has taught me all the teaching methods from a very young age and I have grasped everything on how friendly behaviour and patience is the key to teaching everything. I am thankful to have learnt all this from him.
  • How does your work help society?

I teach music in an unusual manner. I talk, I give real life examples that not only improve the musical sense of a student but it also improves the mental health and the positive views of my students. I always try to influence everybody to make a positive change in the world either through music or some other way.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I'll never be able to think of one single role model. I'm a product of all the lessons and influence I have taken from everybody and everything around me up to the current day of my life and I will keep doing so. I learn from my students too.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I am a seeker. To simplify my thousands of hobbies in one word would be Learning and Executing. I love to learn new things, skills I love to gather new knowledge on everything around me and use everything I have taken to produce a positive result. Obviously music oriented matters are prioritized. But I am also learning things outside music too to spend my pastimes and I enjoy that a lot.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

In my 11th Grade of High School I was introduced properly to the guitar by one of my friends. I was so obsessed with this instrument that I decided to make a six stringed instrument on my own. So I took my badminton racket and restrung it's six strings like a guitar and attached a horn at the end of it. I remember I would play open string exercises and strum my racket-guitar all day long. That's when my father thought of getting me an actual guitar. To learn more about me visit my website www.saikatde.com
