About Josh

As a Master of Engineering student at Imperial College London, I bring a strong foundation in advanced mathematics to my tutoring. I have consistently achieved the highest scores possible in mathematics, including a Grade 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level Analysis and Approaches exams, and the equivalent of an A* (Grade 9) at GCSE level.

I have extensive experience tutoring GCSE Maths and Additional Maths, helping students master challenging concepts and build confidence. My teaching approach is tailored to each student’s unique learning style, ensuring they not only understand core concepts but also develop effective exam techniques. With a focus on clarity, I aim to make complex topics accessible, guiding students to their full potential in mathematics.

About the lesson

As an experienced tutor, I offer tailored one-hour lessons designed to help GCSE students excel in mathematics. Each new student begins with a complimentary consultation, allowing me to understand their individual needs, learning styles, and specific areas for improvement.

My teaching methodology focuses on fostering a deep understanding of core concepts through interactive problem-solving and real-world applications. I ask students to provide any specific questions or math problems in advance so I can incorporate them into the lesson structure. Utilizing an iPad whiteboard, I can demonstrate my working process while allowing students to share theirs, promoting collaborative learning. I believe that feedback is essential, so I keep parents informed of their child’s progress and any areas that may need additional focus. Additionally, I provide exercises for students to complete outside of tutoring sessions to reinforce their understanding.

With a strong academic background and a proven track record in tutoring, I am dedicated to helping students build essential skills and achieve their academic goals. My lessons are suitable for all GCSE-level students, typically aged 14 to 16, whether they are struggling with the material or seeking to enhance their knowledge further. Together, we will work towards achieving success in their mathematics studies.
