About João
More than my Master's degree in Physics Engineering from IST, what truly motivates me is that moment when a difficult concept finally "makes sense" to a student. Over more than 700 hours of tutoring, I've learned that there are no students who don't understand—there are just ways of explaining things that don't work for everyone.
What I bring with me:
• Field experience: I had the privilege of tutoring problems at Técnico. What I was most proud of wasn't the excellent evaluations I received, but seeing classrooms full of students who came to me because they felt the subject matter became clearer and less daunting there.
• Flexibility: I've helped dozens of students with very different profiles and difficulties, from regular tutoring in high school to intensive reinforcement (like a recent experience in Japan, where we worked daily to improve grades in record time).
My approach: I don't see myself as a formal teacher, but as someone who genuinely enjoys investigating the "why" of things and wants to share that enthusiasm. If you're tired of feeling like math is just about memorizing formulas and you want someone to listen to you, understand your doubts, and walk with you until you master the subject, I'm here to help.

I have a Master's degree in Physics Engineering from IST (Instituto Superior Técnico), and honestly, what defines me isn't just the diploma, but how I explain things. I'm one of the best people you'll find at deconstructing complex concepts.
How my class works: Don't expect me to open a book and start dumping material. The class is a constant conversation. Usually, we identify the "block" and I start by building the scenario through analogies with everyday life. Only when the concept "clicks" in your head do we move on to the mathematical formalization. My techniques:
• The formula is the destination, not the beginning: I don't give you formulas to memorize. I give you the reasoning. The formula appears as the natural conclusion of a journey we take together.
• Personal and Intuitive Mastery: I have a close relationship with Mathematics and Physics. I use stories and practical examples so that knowledge becomes instinctive and not something that disappears after the test.
• Guided Derivation: If you want to understand where a law of physics or a mathematical rule comes from, I'll "hold your hand" and we'll do the deduction step by step. Who are the classes for: I mainly work with secondary and higher education students (Engineering/Sciences) who feel that school is a "constant memorization" and want to finally gain autonomy and understand the logic of things.
To date, I have never had a student who didn't understand. If you want to stop rote learning and start understanding, you're in the right place.
