About Shane

I’m Shane, a lifelong science enthusiast with a Master’s in Physics and a strong academic foundation in physics, math, and astronomy. I’ve always been drawn to big questions like how things work, why they happen, and how we make sense of the world through math and science. That curiosity led me into teaching, where I’ve spent the past few years guiding students through challenging concepts and helping them build real understanding. I bring a calm, thoughtful presence to my work. Whether I’m reviewing research, interpreting data, or helping someone tackle a tough physics problem, I stay focused on clarity, consistency, and honest communication. I take pride in being someone students can rely on, especially when the material feels overwhelming or unfamiliar. My experience in both academic instruction and technical work allows me to meet students where they are and support them with patience and purpose. I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can succeed in math and science and I’m here to help make that happen.

About the lesson

I’ve been teaching physics and physical science at the university level for a few years now and I know how tricky these subjects can feel, especially when the explanations just aren’t clicking. I have a Master’s in Physics and a Bachelor's in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Physics, but more importantly, I know how to break things down in a way that actually makes sense. During a typical session we figure out where things are getting confusing and work through the material step by step. I like to focus on building real understanding, not just memorizing formulas. Every student learns a little differently so I always adjust my approach based on what works best for you. What makes me different as a tutor is my mix of teaching and research experience. I’ve worked in labs, written a thesis, and done data analysis using tools like Python and Matlab, but I’ve also spent years helping students who felt totally lost at first. I’m patient, easy to talk to, and genuinely enjoy helping people get it. I work with high school and college students in both physics and math. Whether you're prepping for a test, catching up on classwork, or just want to stop dreading homework, I’m here to help make things clearer and maybe even fun.
