About Kevin
I grew up around the ocean in San Diego and spent my childhood in and around the beach. I studied Marine Science and worked as a Lifeguard, eventually transitioning to a chemistry tutor towards the end of my studies. I fell in love with marine science and became a Master and Rescue certified diver while working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I have experience ranging from managing 30 jr lifeguards to working one-on-one with chemistry students at CSU Monterey Bay and I am comfortable teaching multiple age ranges.

My approach is a blend of real world examples and how they apply to real world jobs and life. I have worked as a field biologist, professional diver and passionately use oceanography and weather to plan surf lessons. I can cater lessons in chemistry, oceanography, biology from elementary students up to high school and college students. The goal is to not only pass tests but build a foundation of scientific understanding and find your interests.
Examples of my lesson plans would be developing an understanding of basic chemistry and its importance to real world applications:
- Using the relationships of pressure, temperature, and gas laws to understand high and low pressure weather systems, integrating basic chemistry to understand broader concepts
- starting with the basics of battery chemistry and applying concepts to maritime planning and boating safety.
I cater your lessons to your needs and hope to inspire and engage your mind to grasp fundamental concepts that I use everyday in my life. I appreciate the opportunity to work with you.
