About Schelin

I am a graduate of both Miami University and the University of Hawaii with extensive experience in space exploration and mission planning. As a science data analyst, I have contributed to NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, the Mars Perseverance SHERLOC instrument, and the Europa Clipper mission. I have been teaching and tutoring math and geology since my student days and am passionate about inspiring the next generation to pursue STEM careers, excited to help them grow their skills and confidence. When I am not exploring space missions or mentoring students, I enjoy swimming and spending time crafting.

About the lesson

Hi there!

I’m a lunar researcher with experience supporting NASA missions, and I offer one-on-one math and science tutoring for middle and high school students. I’ve taught both math and geology across grade levels and love helping students connect what they’re learning to things they actually care about.

I focus on building strong foundational understanding through clear explanations, visual aids, and real-world examples tied to each student’s interests, whether that's sports, art, technology, or everyday life. I guide students step-by-step through each concept and adjust my approach to fit their learning style and pace.

Each session starts with a quick review of previous material or homework, followed by a focused lesson on the topic of the day with examples and practice problems. I weave in analogies and examples that reflect what the student enjoys, keeping the lesson engaging and relatable. We wrap up with a summary and check-in to make sure the student feels confident moving forward.

I bring real-world experience from lunar science and NASA missions into my tutoring, but more importantly, I make the material click by connecting it to students’ lives. With a background in both math and geology, I help students see how abstract concepts actually matter, and how they can succeed in them.

These lessons are for middle and high school students (grades 6–12) who need support in math or science, including algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, and Earth science. I also work with students preparing for AP courses or exploring STEM-focused paths.
