About Sharon
The most important thing about tutoring is to make a child feel at ease and know that you are there to help him/her become successful and feel confident about his/her abilities. Getting to know what a child is interested in helps me to build lessons incorporating those interests to make lessons more successful. Trying different techniques and strategies to meet that child at his/her level and helping to achieve higher levels is imperative. The child needs to feel comfortable at his/her level before he/she can achieve the next one.

I like to use all different approaches to teaching to help a child learn- manipulatives, notebook activities, games, on line activities, whatever helps a child succeed. I like to do a little warm up to access where a child is at, then a hands on or computer introduction lesson, followed by a practice session and then a game or computer activity. At times, give a small weekly practice activity to review during the week.
