About Maneesha
I have a Masters in Education and an Honours degree in English, so teaching English is what I do best. I've been teaching/tutoring English - mostly at GCSE level - for over 20 years with great success and satisfaction, even running the English department at a private college where I used to teach. I now teach small groups or individuals at a local college and with a tutoring franchise. On average, my GCSE English students gain 2.5 Bands from when they first begin learning with me.
I tailor my lessons to each individual student's needs so that the gaps are filled and their strengths are stretched.
Remember those horrible moments at school, when your mind went blank as you stared at your question paper? Or when you started to 'waffle' just to impress? Or when you sat in class feeling stuck, frozen with confusion and dread, wishing someone would explain everything to you properly?
Well, as they gain both knowledge and confidence, my students begin to enjoy English; their expression improves along with their reading skills. They begin to reap the results of their dedication and hard work by starting to get better marks at school. From confusion, awkwardness or a dread of the subject, they begin to take control of, and pride in, their learning. Since we are all lifelong learners, this attitude will also serve them in their progress to the next level of their education. Their own potential is unlocked, ready and waiting for them to realise it!
English being one of the core subjects, it is vital that children learn to understand and communicate every nuance effectively - not just at school, but also in their higher/further education and even - eventually - at the workplace and in their lives.
It's never too late to get help, and the sooner you reach out, the better!

My teaching method is thorough, with reinforcements used, where necessary. I plan the trajectory of each student - starting from where they are at the beginning, to where they want to be reaching. This makes learning a collaborative activity, putting the onus on the child to work hard with me to achieve the targets set by us.

Details
My rates vary, depending on the level of the student, the distance I need to travel and in accordance with a cancellation policy, where a minimum period of notice for a cancellation is 24 hours prior to the lesson.
If I need to cancel a lesson due to any personal or health reason, then another lesson will be offered to make up for the missed lesson.
