About Joshua

Hi, I’m Joshua, an MSc Finance & Accounting student at Imperial College Business School. I am bilingual in English and Mandarin, and I enjoy helping beginners build the confidence to communicate more comfortably in everyday situations.

I want to teach because I understand how challenging it can feel to learn a new language, especially when it comes to speaking aloud and using new words naturally. My aim is to create a patient, encouraging, and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and improving step by step.

As a tutor, I focus on clear explanations, practical examples, and real-life conversation practice. I believe language learning should be useful, engaging, and tailored to each student’s pace and goals. Whether you are learning English or Mandarin for school, work, travel, or daily life, I will help you strengthen your basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversational confidence in a structured and friendly way.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Joshua. I offer beginner-friendly English and Mandarin lessons focused on practical conversation and key daily vocabulary.

My lessons are designed to help students build confidence in speaking, listening, and understanding everyday language. I focus on useful topics such as greetings, introductions, ordering food, asking for directions, shopping, travel, school, work, and simple daily conversations. Rather than memorising long lists of words, I help students practise using new vocabulary naturally through guided conversations, role-play, pronunciation practice, and simple sentence-building exercises.

A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, but I can adjust the structure depending on the student’s needs and learning pace. Each lesson usually includes a short review, introduction of new words or phrases, conversation practice, and feedback on pronunciation, grammar, and fluency.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, students, and adult learners who want to improve their everyday English or Mandarin for school, work, travel, or daily life.
