About Tessa
I bring over a decade 7 years of teaching experience and a BSc in Mathematics for Data Science to my role as a math tutor. My specialty lies in guiding middle school students through the foundational concepts of algebra. Equations, functions, and polynomials may seem difficult at first, but with puzzles and problem-solving games, they become much easier to grasp. I focus on building confidence step by step, ensuring that each concept is fully understood before moving on. Over the years, I’ve taught students with different learning styles, tailoring lessons to fit visual, auditory, or hands-on preferences. For learners facing math anxiety, I create a safe, encouraging environment. Real-life examples are at the core of my lessons, helping students connect algebra to things they already know. This makes math less abstract and more engaging. I believe in turning confusion into clarity and stress into curiosity. Each lesson builds both knowledge and confidence. Algebra can be a rewarding subject when taught with patience and creativity. My goal is to help every student discover that sense of accomplishment.

In teaching maths, I focus on breaking down challenges into clear, simple steps. Many learners struggle with large problems, so simplifying them builds confidence. I combine this with critical thinking exercises to sharpen reasoning skills. Logical reasoning helps students approach equations with strategy, not fear. To make learning meaningful, I include real-life applications, from interpreting statistics to solving business problems. This shows learners the usefulness of maths outside the classroom. My lessons also emphasize patience and structure. Both exam students and career changers find this approach supportive. I give feedback that points out growth areas while celebrating progress. I avoid rote learning and focus on true understanding. Each lesson builds naturally into the next, creating a strong foundation. Over time, learners gain independence in problem-solving. My goal is to help every student see maths as approachable and rewarding. Together, we can turn confusion into clarity.
