About Bethany
I have been a high school teacher for over 15 years, and have taught at the collegiate level in teacher preparation programs for two years. My students focus on building skills that allow them to comprehend the world around them in an academic way that focuses on reading for understanding, critical reading strategies, research and evidence-based learning, and written communication. Before I taught in the US, I taught English in Thailand.

As a tutor, my approach is entirely student-centered—every lesson is designed around the individual needs, goals, and learning style of each student. A typical session might include a warm-up to activate prior knowledge, direct instruction tailored to a specific skill (like analyzing text, structuring an argument, or researching effectively), followed by collaborative practice and personalized feedback. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and break down complex English language skills into manageable, meaningful steps. I work with middle school through college-level learners, including English Language Learners and those needing support with academic writing, reading comprehension, or literacy skills. My goal is to empower students not just to perform better—but to think critically, write clearly, and love the learning process.
