About Zariah
Hi guys! My name is Zariah, and I teach reading, writing, and storytelling for kids ages 9 to 12. My classes are designed to help learners comprehend what they read and find their voice as writers. Whether we’re breaking down a powerful short story or crafting plot twists of our own, I make reading exciting and writing empowering. I’m 19, with an associate’s degree in liberal arts, and I’m currently finishing my bachelor’s in child psychology. My dream is to work as a curriculum consultant with schools to help students connect more deeply with literature. Over the years, I’ve received strong praise from college professors and authors for my writing and analysis skills, with some calling my work a “sight for sore eyes.” I bring that same passion and clarity to my students—especially those who struggle with reading or think it’s “boring.” For the past five years, I’ve worked with children on the autism spectrum using tools like K12, IXL, and Khan Academy, and I’ve created custom lesson plans to match their learning needs. Over those 5 years, I’ve also tutored neurotypical students, helping them fall in love with stories, make inferences, and analyze with confidence. Parents often say they appreciate how I tailor every lesson to the child’s level and needs. They also love that I engage effectively with each child to reach their learning goals. In my classes, we rebuild stories in our own words, strengthen comprehension, and explore creativity—all in a warm, encouraging space. I’m so excited to see you in my class. Thank you for considering my classroom!

This is the class where young readers become confident writers, and we learn how to read and enjoy reading! Reading is not just scanning words on a paper, it’s actively engaging in the super cool books and stories offered by wonderful authors. In this creative reading and writing class, learners will read powerful stories, dive into poems, analyze rich novel excerpts, and create a portfolio of original writing. At the end of each week we will write according to the theme of that week.
(Ages 9–14 • On-going club • Meets 3x/week)
Here is an example lesson plan:
Monday: A short story: "Jabberwocky" - Lewis Carroll (nonsense + fun)
Wednesday: A poem: "The Open Window" by Saki
Friday: Writing day: theme: Imagination vs. Reality
We use deep-think reading strategies like TPCASTT, STEAL, and SIFT to help students think critically, ask questions, and see how authors build emotion, tone, and meaning. Then, we flip the script and write our own stories and poems based on the week’s theme! While writing our stories, we’ll listen to music, ask questions, and read our stories to the class! But only if we’re finished, never present unfinished work!
