About Herbert
I took my GCSEs in 2017 and I was very pleased with my results. I took English Literature and Language, Maths and Further maths, Statistics and Triple science, History, French, Drama and Religion. I received one six, (B+) three sevens (A), six eights (A*) and three nines (A**). I got a distinction in speaking and listening, A* in English Language and A** in English Literature. I'm taking English Literature and EPQ with Biology and Chemistry for A level. I'm not all work though, I do have an immense passion for music and the arts, and my skills in English Literature came from avid reading of fiction from a very young age.
Why am I wanting to do tutoring? My answer is simple. I want to tutor so that I can learn and develop from teaching others. By helping someone else to realise their goals and potential, not only am I giving back to someone else what I myself had, but I am helping to achieve my own personal goals of continuing to do well at A level English by reinforcing and revising what I already know through teaching someone else.

I like to study the literature itself and help to give an in depth analysis of what is being conveyed by the author of the text. I will encourage students to look for hidden meanings and metaphors/techniques in structure and language that are often overlooked, and relate their importance to the context and meaning of the literature. I'm quite thorough at analysing a text so this will ensure that nothing important is missed in tuition. This is key to truly understanding any text at GCSE level, whether it's poems, or 19th century novels.
I can also help with English language, for example creative writing, and comparison of texts.
I have a Distinction in English speaking, which I've heard is often very helpful for getting into universities and jobs; and I'm pretty sure I can help my students achieve this too!

I have no policies but if I need for some reason to travel by public transport to help a student I would be very grateful if the travel there is paid and I'll pay myself the way back.
