About Tom
I’m a 17-year-old trombone player with 10 years of playing experience, currently studying A-Level Music. I play 2nd trombone for Camborne Town Band, one of the top bands in the country, giving me the opportunity to perform in legendary venues such as the Royal Albert Hall. I also play in a variety of ensembles, from jazz bands to orchestras, which has helped me develop versatility, technique, and a strong musical ear. I’m passionate about helping students of all levels (up to Grade 6) build their sound, improve their technique, and develop confident articulation and musicality. I aim to make lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each student’s goals, whether you’re preparing for exams, playing in a band, or just want to improve your playing.

I offer encouraging and supportive trombone tuition tailored to each student’s individual needs. While my main focus is trombone, I can also integrate music theory into lessons and teach ensemble playing, jazz, and improvisation where it’s useful. I teach all ages and levels up to Grade 6 and can prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall graded exams, general performances or just to improve playing. My lessons focus on developing a great tone, accurate intonation, and clear articulation — all key ingredients for confident and expressive playing. I teach at my home in Truro or online, whichever suits you best, and I’m available weekday and Saturday evenings, or anytime on Sundays. My rates are £19 per hour, £15 for 45 minutes, or £10 for a half-hour lesson. I aim to make every lesson enjoyable, rewarding, and tailored to your goals, helping you build skill, confidence, and a love for music.
