About Sophia

I achieved all grade 9's at GCSE and have two years of successful tutoring experience. Having completed my GCSEs recently, I understand first-hand how overwhelming they can feel and how difficult it is to know where to begin. I want to teach because I know what its like to feel alone and daunted during GCSEs, and I spent a lot of time struggling on my own, thus I know what a difference it can make to have someone who explains concepts clearly and be a source of confidence throughout the stressful experience of GCSEs. During my own preparation, I worked through an extensive range of Maths and Science exam questions, recall techniques, online and paper resources and countless youtube videos, giving me a deep understanding of methodical exam approach and what consistently secures top marks.
I am currently studying A Level Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics, so my knowledge is both extensive and practical. This allows me to explain concepts clearly, make links beyond GCSE level where helpful, and ensure students develop strong foundations.
Because my experience is recent, I offer invaluable up-to-date insight into what genuinely works in current GCSE exams. I combine patience, clear explanations and a thorough step-by-step approach to ensure students feel supported, capable and motivated to achieve their best.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on clarity, structure and building real exam confidence. I specialise in breaking complex topics down into simple, manageable steps so students fully understand the method before moving on to exam-style questions. A strong emphasis is placed on exam technique — mastering mark schemes, recognising question patterns, avoiding common mistakes and learning how to approach unfamiliar problems calmly and logically, as well as ensuring the understanding of topics is grounded and memorable for the students.

Each 60-minute lesson is carefully structured to maximise progress. Sessions include a recap of prior learning, focused teaching of a key topic, guided practice, independent exam-question work with detailed feedback, and clear revision strategies to use between lessons. I also teach efficient, high-impact revision techniques so students know exactly how to revise outside of sessions.
