About Sabriel

Hello!
I am a friendly tutor. I am young ,unlike many classroom teachers, which allows me to really understand your potential difficulties and what teaching methods are actually effective.
I am very passionate about Maths and English and next year I am going to be studying Computer Science and Maths
I also play the piano at a Grade 6 level. I also row competitively and have won 3 national medals. I love both of my hobbies but rowing does often make me question my own sanity.

About the lesson

Hello!
I am a tutor with 200+ hours of experience offering Maths Tuition for GCSE Maths,GCSE Additional Maths and GCSE English Literature and Language. I also tutor Maths for pupils year 9 and bellow.

Qualification:
Student at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, Marlow
All 8’s and 9,s at GCSE with 9’s in Maths,English Literature and Language. Also self studied Additional Maths GCSE.
Predicted a A*A*AA in Maths, English , Further Maths and Physics respectively
200+ hours of experience, with past pupils improving by up to 2 grades

As someone who has recently done my GCSE’s I am fully aware of what techniques are effective and what problems students find difficult. I have noticed that the number of practice questions students are doing is the main aspect that separates the top students from others. So for me, the most important part of our session is tackling difficult problems

At the start of a Maths session I will typically go over examples in the topic the student wants help in and I will point out common mistakes. Then the majority of the session is focused on doing LOTS of difficult problems. I then give my pupils more questions for them to practice at home in order to further embed their knowledge. Which we can then go over in future sessions.

In English we focus on essay writing skills and practice.
Like Maths, English is all about practice, so in our sessions we willfirst start by writing “exemplar” paragraphs and then move onto writing longer essays while maintaining the same standard of writing. As a tutor I will help to enhance the sophistication of the student’s language, the depth of their analysis and practicing to use the essay structures that examiners wants to see.
