About Ope
Hi, I'm Ope, an A-Level Chemistry specialist with over 15 years of tutoring experience.
I hold a First Class BSc in Chemistry with Biochemistry from Queen Mary University of London and an MSc in Green Chemistry from the University of York, both Russell Group universities.
Since 2010, I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds, helping them build confidence, strengthen their understanding of Chemistry and improve their exam performance.
Over the years, I've found that many students already know more Chemistry than they realise. The challenge is often applying that knowledge effectively under exam conditions and developing the study habits needed for long-term success.
My teaching style focuses on clear explanations, structured support and helping students become more independent learners. I want students to leave sessions not only with a better understanding of Chemistry, but also with practical strategies they can use confidently in their own revision.

Many A-Level Chemistry students understand the content but still struggle to achieve the grades they're capable of.
In my experience, this is often because they are losing marks through exam technique, application of knowledge, and ineffective revision strategies rather than a lack of understanding.
I specialise in helping OCR A-Level Chemistry students working at grades B-D who are aiming to achieve A*-B grades and secure places on competitive university courses, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and other STEM pathways.
Lessons are tailored to the individual student, but typically include:
• Targeted teaching on weaker topics
• Exam-style question practice
• Mark scheme analysis and exam technique coaching
• Targeted feedback on what to focus on independently outside of sessions
• Regular feedback to identify where marks are being lost
My lessons are highly interactive and take place online. Lessons are recorded for playback so students can return to it whenever they need to. They also get access to dozens of notes and exam-style papers created for them.
Every student begins with a structured diagnostic process.
The first session includes a discussion about current performance, target grades, university aspirations and any challenges the student is facing. I then use a diagnostic assessment to identify knowledge gaps, exam technique issues and areas where marks are being lost unnecessarily.
Using this information, I'll recommend a personalised plan based on the student's goals, exam timeline and specific needs.
The students who make the strongest progress are usually those who combine consistent effort with the right guidance and strategy. My role is to provide the structure, accountability and support needed to help that effort translate into exam success.
