• 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  English is my native language, but I learned Dutch and Spanish thanks to my own motivation and the influence of some truly inspiring teachers. In both cases, my curiosity about other cultures and my international experience were key. Learning these languages not only opened professional doors, but also made me feel part of different communities. 🌍

• 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  For Spanish, I'd choose Don Quixote-he embodies the passion, imagination, and heart of Hispanic culture. For English, I'd say Sherlock Holmes, with his logic, precision, and signature British humor. And for Dutch, Anne Frank stands out for her strength, sensitivity, and the powerful cultural and human legacy she left behind. 🧑‍🎓

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  From Don Quixote, I love the phrase: "To change the world, my dear Sancho, is not madness or utopia, but justice." It inspires me as a teacher-teaching languages is also a way of changing the world, one student at a time.
  From Holmes, his classic "Elementary, my dear Watson" reminds me that complex things can be explained simply-a principle I apply often in class.
  And from Anne Frank, her ability to observe humanity with hope, even in extreme circumstances, moves me deeply and continues to shape how I teach. 🧠

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Speaking multiple languages opens your mind. English connects you professionally to the world; Spanish gives access to over 20 countries with rich histories; and Dutch is vital in fields like logistics, design, and international relations with the Netherlands and Belgium. On a personal level, it allows you to truly connect with different people, cultures, and ways of life. 🌐

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  In English, pronunciation and exceptions can be tricky. In Spanish, verb tenses are the usual challenge. In Dutch, word order tends to confuse learners. What helps in every case is guided practice, with clear explanations and useful examples. I combine theory with natural conversation so that my students learn effectively and feel confident without fearing mistakes. 📚

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  Once, while teaching Business English, a student had to give an important presentation but was extremely nervous. We practiced so much that he delivered it confidently-and ended up closing a major deal for his company! He wrote to thank me the next day. Moments like that are what make it all worth it. ✨

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  I've lived and worked across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. One of my most memorable trips was to Vietnam, where I taught English and learned a great deal about adapting to new cultures. Every country I visit teaches me something new, from local expressions to fresh perspectives I later bring into the classroom. ✈️

My international professional experience also allows me to teach not just the language, but also the culture, idioms, and effective communication in real contexts. 🏆
