About Callum

I’m Callum – aka Mulholland, a Bristol-based music producer, tutor and one-third of the record label & event series Amity. Over the last few years, I’ve been part of the wave shaping Bristol’s forward-thinking electronic scene into the 2020s and beyond.

My productions have have garnered support from artists like Four Tet, Ben UFO, Joy Orbison, Jyoty, Jamie XX and more.

I've released on cutting-edge labels like 3024, CloudCore, Scuffed Recordings, Banoffee Pies, Woozy, and of course Amity – spanning tempos and genres while always staying true to a few core elements: razor-sharp percussion, tight vocal sampling, and heavyweight low-end.

Let me help you to refine your sound, finish your tracks and get your music out there!

About the lesson

I’ll help you unlock your sound, finish your music, and get it ready for clubs, labels, or self-release – whatever your goals are.

Each session is tailored to you – but I’ll also guide you through a full artist development pathway if you’re looking to go deep. Together, we’ll analyse your music and build on your strengths while levelling up the areas holding you back.

Topics I Cover:

Track Feedback & Critique, Sampling & Sample Packs, Drum Programming & Percussion, Synthesis & Sound Design, Arrangement & Flow, Vocal Chops & Edits, Groove, Swing & Human Feel, Mixing Techniques (EQ, compression, spatial effects), Finishing Tracks, Release Planning & Pitching to Labels, Developing a Personal Sound

Lesson Journey:
Lesson 1 – Building a Drum Loop & Understanding Groove
Lesson 2 – Sample Selection & Loop Creation
Lesson 3 – Slicing Vocals & Flip Techniques
Lesson 4 – Sound Design Basics (Sub, Lead, Texture)
Lesson 5 – Arrangement Structure & Energy Flow
Lesson 6 – Transitions, Builds, FX
Lesson 7 – Mixing Tools & Headroom
Lesson 8 – Track Finalisation & Export
Lesson 9 – Club/Label Readiness Review
Lesson 10 – Release Strategy & Artist Direction

Tools Used:
Ableton Live

FabFilter, Max for Live, Soundtoys, more

Loads of samples, templates, racks and tips I can share

Sessions can be structured or loose – from full production walkthroughs to Q&As or track finishing sessions. We go at your pace and your style.

Let’s get your music moving!

I have worked with Callum for a number of years both as a collaborator and as a mixing and mastering engineer. His passion truly shines through in his work and has brought many of my songs to life, where they had previously been lacking. He’s honest yet kind with his feedback and has been a real inspiration to work with and alongside.
