About Julia

I am a first-year university student at McMaster University seeking a degree in Social Psychology, with a minor in English Literature. I have experience in successfully tutoring children in English. This experience included teaching reading, writing, grammar, and essay structure skills. In my last year of high school, I tutored other students in English Literature.

About the lesson

My classes are meant for children from kindergarten to grade ten. I like to tailor my lessons in a way that will make the students excited to learn and want to know more about what they are learning. I encourage questions and always do my best to make sure everybody understands the content before moving on. I like to use examples and then ask students to use their own experiences in order for them to truly engage in the work they do. My passion and drive for my students' success differentiate me from other tutors or teachers because I want all of my students to do their absolute best in everything they try. I like to base my classes on structure and repetition. I have found from experience that practice makes perfect and this contributes to great English grammar and writing skills. A typical class would start with a brief warm-up exercise, followed by the main content of the lesson. Afterwards, I allow time for questions and practicing the skills acquired.
