About Carmen
My name is Carmen, and I am a 30-year-old mother of two energetic toddlers. I enjoy music and cooking. I started my teaching journey in 2013 by earning my TEFL certificate in Thailand, where I then taught for 11 months. I was fortunate to gain experience working with children of different age groups. I have been accepted to pursue my higher certificate in education in 2025, after which I plan to start my Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase. I care deeply for children and believe that every child is unique and wonderfully made.

Today is the perfect day to start learning English with me as a certified tutor. I have 6 years of experience working with children and 1 year of experience teaching English in person. Helping you or your child would be an honour.
I completed my 120-hour teacher TEFL training in Thailand with Entrust TEFL. I taught at the GEL training centre for children aged 2 years and up. We had one-on-one sessions as well as group sessions with 3 to 7 students. I also worked at Samut Sakhon Burana School in Thailand, teaching teens and young adults. Upon returning to South Africa, I worked on weekends as a babysitter/au pair for a few months, caring for a 4-, 7-, and 9-year-old. My lessons are fun and engaging. Helping children speak more confidently is the priority. I believe in learning through play.
I care deeply for children and believe that every child is unique and wonderfully made.
