About Marie

Hi, my name is Marie. I am a qualified teacher, as well as a wife and mother, and I enjoy spending time in nature and keeping fit.
I have always had a passion for helping people learn. No matter our age, we are all learning and growing every day.

I have broad teaching experience in both the classroom and in individualized tutoring. I also have extensive experience teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to both children and adults from different backgrounds.

My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and adapted to each student’s individual needs and learning level. I aim to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and motivated to learn.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is patient, supportive and adapted to each student’s individual needs and learning level.
With 24 years of primary school teaching experience in South Africa and internationally, I focus on building confidence while helping students develop a clear understanding of their work.

I teach in English and have extensive experience supporting ESL (English as a Second Language) learners from beginner to intermediate level, of all ages. Lessons include conversational English, vocabulary building, reading and writing, using a variety of resources including Cambridge-endorsed ESL textbooks.

I also offer Primary School tutoring for Grades 1–5 in English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Lessons are adapted to each learner’s needs and may include my own teaching resources, CAPS curriculum materials, Cambridge-endorsed textbooks, and Singapore Maths.

A typical lesson includes reviewing key concepts, guided practice, and opportunities for students to ask questions and practise their skills. My goal is to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable learning and improving at their own pace.

My lessons are ideal for ESL students who want to improve their English communication skills as well as school learners who need extra academic support.
