About Claire
I am a British woman now living in New Zealand. I have a very broad background including history, finance and science. I love languages - I'm currently learning German and Ukrainian - and I love the English language in particular.
I enjoy learning - I have a PhD in Medical Physics - and I really, really enjoy teaching. In particular, I love making learning easy and enjoyable for my students. I work hard to create a relaxed and productive learning environment, building your confidence in your ability to communicate in English.
I can help you with general English learning, and with any specific areas you want to focus on. I specialise in teaching adults, and I take on students aged 16 and older.
I am happy to teach students on either a short-term or a long-term basis. If you have a specific topic that you need short-term help with, I will be pleased to work with you on that. Confidence-building and general fluency take longer, and I'd love to be part of your journey.

I tailor my lessons to meet your language needs and skill level. I focus on building your confidence speaking and listening to English in conversation. For written English, I use texts that fit your needs and interests, and I work with you to produce your own pieces of written English in the appropriate style (casual, academic or business-formal).
I teach both grammar and vocabulary, and my focus is always on making lessons enjoyable and productive for you.
I am a CELTA-qualified teacher, with tertiary qualifications in History, finance and physics and a STEM PhD. I teach adults and students aged 16+, either 1 to 1 or in small groups up to 4 learners. My lessons are usually 1 hour long.
