About Max
Hi, I’m a guitar tutor with over 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on Guitar. I offer personalized lessons designed to match each student’s learning pace, goals, and musical taste. Whether you're a beginner picking up your first chords or an advanced player chasing mastery, I’m here to guide you. My specialties include fingerstyle guitar, blues improvisation, expressive soloing techniques, and chordal theory. I teach in a way that makes complex concepts feel approachable and fun. I believe learning guitar should be inspiring, not intimidating. My experience spans across genres like rock, funk, jazz, and folk, and I help students find their groove in whatever style they love. I’m especially passionate about helping players grow in confidence, musicality, and self-expression. My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and motivating. My teaching approach is all about making guitar learning enjoyable, structured, and creative. I focus on building a strong foundation for every student, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills. I start with the basics of technique, chords, and strumming patterns, then gradually introduce more complex topics based on your progress and goals.
I place a lot of importance on rhythm training, groove development, and tempo control. These elements are key to sounding confident and tight, whether you're playing solo or with a group. We’ll use metronomes, loopers, and backing tracks to strengthen your timing and feel.
I adapt my lessons to various genres like blues, funk, folk, and more—so you can explore different sounds and playing styles. If you love to play around a campfire or lead music in a group setting, I help you grow into a well-rounded, expressive player. My sessions often include ear training, improvisation, and songwriting to develop creativity.
Above all, I encourage passion. I guide students step-by-step, making sure they stay motivated and find their own voice on the guitar. We’ll focus on both skill and expression. My goal is to make you not just a better player, but a confident musician.
