About Asha
I am a piano teacher with over 9 years of experience teaching both in-person and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, which has given me a solid foundation in technique, theory, and performance. My teaching philosophy centres on active participation, musical intent, and developing well-rounded musicianship in every student. I adapt my lessons to each student’s unique goals and learning style. Lessons integrate history, theory, technical exercises, and creative exploration to make learning engaging and meaningful. I have successfully guided students from Beginner to Advanced levels, as well as professional and expert musicians. I emphasise understanding the music, not just playing the notes, and encourage expression, improvisation, and personal interpretation. My approach ensures students build confidence, skill, and a deeper appreciation for music. I enjoy creating a supportive environment where students feel motivated and inspired. My teaching approach is designed to help both kids and adults develop strong piano technique and a lasting love for playing. I use music games, backing tracks, and interactive challenges to make learning fun and rewarding. Students explore rhythm, phrasing, and dynamics while gaining confidence in their abilities. I support those looking for relaxation and therapy through music, helping them express themselves and find joy in each session. For students aiming to excel in jazz and improvisation, I guide them in exploring chord progressions, improvising solos, and developing a unique musical voice. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals and skill level. I encourage experimentation, creativity, and personal expression. My aim is not only to teach piano but also to nurture musical curiosity and artistic growth. I provide structured guidance while celebrating small victories along the way. Students learn to play with confidence, passion, and purpose.
