About Dana

With the massive boom in K-culture, so many of my friends started asking me to teach them Korean. As I helped them practice, they kept saying, "You have a real gift for teaching!" That was my lightbulb moment. I realized how much I missed teaching, and it pushed me to officially get back into what I’ve always loved doing.

Teaching has actually been a huge part of my life since I was 19. Back in college, I spent my summer breaks in Korea tutoring English. I’ve taught everyone from 5-year-olds to a 40-something medical doctor!

Since then, I’ve built a career in NYC as a fashion designer, working with major brands like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Recently, while taking a brief break from design work to focus on raising my child, I’ve had the time and space to reconnect with this passion.

I’m a natural conversationalist who genuinely loves connecting with people. Whether we’re breaking down K-drama dialogue or practicing real-life banter, I bring the same creativity, precision, and energy to my lessons that I brought to the fashion industry.

About the lesson

Hey there! I’m a Seoul native living in NYC, working as a fashion designer.

My lessons are for anyone who wants to speak natural, real-life Korean, not the stiff, robotic sentences you get from old textbooks or AI.

Since I spend most of the class speaking in Korean, you’ll get full immersion! But don't worry if you get stuck, having lived in the US for many years, I’m completely bilingual and can easily break down tricky nuances in English whenever you need.

Over the years, I’ve taught everyone from 5-year-olds to adult professionals, so I know how to adjust to your personal speed and style.

Warm-up (5 mins): Quick catch up in Korean to turn on your "Korean brain."

Today’s Topic (20 mins): We dive into practical expressions using K-dramas, real-life scenarios, or current cultural trends in Seoul.

Practice & Chat (10 mins): Natural back and forth conversation with quick, friendly corrections on phrasing and pronunciation.

Wrap-up (5 mins): Quick review of key words so you know what to take away!

Intermediate/advanced learners who want to break through the plateau and speak like a local.

K-culture fans, travelers, or anyone wanting deeper conversations with Korean friends or partners.
