About Minki

I am a native Korean speaker with five years of teaching experience. Sharing the Korean language and culture with others has become an especially meaningful part of my life.

I became blind in adulthood and had to adapt to an unexpected life change while building a new career. That journey strengthened my resilience, patience, resourcefulness, and appreciation for meaningful human connection. It also gave me the courage to pursue work through which I can make a positive difference in other people's lives.

I am dependable, organized, and committed to treating every student with respect. Teaching Korean gives me the opportunity to share an important part of who I am while helping others discover a new language and culture. I am proud of the career I have built and genuinely invested in the success of every student I teach.

I take my students’ progress seriously and prepare each lesson with care. My goal is to provide a welcoming, professional environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their Korean abilities.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is patient, practical, and personalized. With five years of Korean teaching experience, I understand that every student learns differently. I adjust each lesson to the student’s level, interests, learning style, and personal goals.

I have developed my own teaching materials, including structured Hangul worksheets, vocabulary exercises, writing practice, and beginner-friendly lesson activities. Rather than using the same materials for every student, I adapt them based on each learner’s progress and areas that need additional practice.

A typical 50-minute lesson includes:
• A short review and warm-up
• New vocabulary, grammar, or Hangul patterns
• Guided reading, writing, and pronunciation practice
• Practical conversation or activities based on the student’s interests
• A recap and optional practice assignment

As a native Korean speaker, I teach natural expressions, accurate pronunciation, cultural context, and the differences between formal and casual Korean. I also explain difficult concepts clearly in English, helping beginners feel comfortable and confident.

My lessons are ideal for complete beginners and early-intermediate learners, especially teens and adults. No previous Korean knowledge is required. Lessons can be customized for students learning Korean for travel, conversation, Korean culture, K-dramas and music, relationships, heritage, or personal enrichment.
