*Class Overview:*
In these classes, students will embark on a journey to explore the rich and diverse world of Indian Classical Vocal Singing. With a focus on the Dhrupad tradition, students will learn the fundamental techniques, ragas, and compositions that form the foundation of this ancient and revered art form.
*Key Areas of Focus:*
1. *Breathing and Voice Culture*: Students will learn exercises to develop proper breathing techniques, expand their vocal range, and cultivate a strong, resonant voice.
2. *Raga Knowledge*: Students will delve into the world of ragas, learning about their characteristics, emotions, and nuances.
3. *Composition and Improvisation*: Students will learn traditional compositions (bandishes) and develop skills in improvisation (aalap, taan, and boltaan).
4. *Laya and Taal*: Students will explore the intricacies of laya (tempo) and taal (rhythm), developing a strong sense of timing and rhythmic accuracy.
5. *Dhrupad Tradition*: Students will learn about the history, philosophy, and cultural context of the Dhrupad tradition.
