About Léa

Hello, I'm Léa and I'm a postgraduate student in Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow ! I'm a french native and would love to teach you my mother tongue and help you discover my culture :)

Since highschool, I've always been the "informal tutor" of all my friends and classmates and I was chosen by my school to be part of their tutoring program for French & English language, literature and general methodology. I loved helping and teaching people so much that I decided to start tutoring once I started university. I've also been a volunteer in a few artistic venues (mostly theatres and museums) and events to introduce art to disadvantaged people, especially with student in Educational Priority Area. As a tutor, I've had several students, mostly in English Language and Literature, French Grammar and Literature, History and Art History for students in middle school and highschool.

In highschool, I've followed the Literature and Art program for my Baccalauréat, specialising in Theatre Studies. I started university in a selective multidisciplinary program called Preparatory Classes for the French "Grandes écoles", which doesn't really have a translation in English, in which I studied French literature, English Literature, Philosophy, History, Geography and my new speciality ; History of Arts. I got a double degree in English language, literature and culture and History of Arts. Then, I did one year of my Masters in Management of artistic projects and institutions. This year, I decided to follow my love for Scotland and follow a Postgraduate Program in Theatre Studies !

I really enjoy teaching and I'm looking forward to working with you too !

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on your interests, I truly believe that the best way to learn a language is to care about it, or to find ways to be more curious about it (that's how I've learnt English !). Of course, you have to know the core grammar and vocabulary to be able to actually enjoy it, but we can always use arts, culture, sports, videogames, TV shows, music, etc, as a medium to make the essential, and sometimes boring parts, a bit more easily accessible. I also think that oral expression should be a biggest part of learning a language in school so I encourage all my students to try talking as much as possible without being "ashamed" of making mistakes, it's always part of the learning experience !
