About 砂の

I grew up in a multicultural environment (Latino and Franco-German) and have lived in several countries, which has allowed me to develop a particular fluency and interest in languages. I have had a trilingual education from primary school to university. I have a certificate in Foreign Languages. I have had the opportunity to learn the Japanese language from native speakers since I was very young. I lead various fun workshops to introduce Arabic, as well as various workshops to introduce digital tools for seniors and primary school children of all backgrounds. I also work in partnership with professional organisations to provide training to adults in Arabic, English and French, and I also carry out various translations, whether it be English-French French-English Arabic-English English-Arabic French-Arabic Arabic-French. My students range in age from 3 to 60 years old and they have all improved since I have accompanied them in language learning. I am also a volunteer French teacher.

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Owing to my heritage, I have a natural flair for these languages. I've been steeped in a multilingual environment since my formative years, which has been instrumental in my linguistic journey. Despite the fact that French necessitates tireless revision, my early exposure has been a boon.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

When it comes to Latin languages I would say Don Quixote, from Miguel de Cervantes' novel or Victor Hugo's Jean Valjean are worth their weight in gold. As for English, if I were to choose a fictional character that encapsulates this culture, it would be the inimitable Sherlock Holmes, who is truly the bee's knees. However, for the younger demographic, the pop sensation Justin Bieber might resonate more.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

An expression that I find particularly intriguing is "geek of all trades, master of none". It's a clever twist on the renowned saying: "jack of all trades, master of none", widely attributed to the 16th-century British author Robert Greene. This idiom paints a picture of an individual with a broad spectrum of skills, yet lacking mastery in any.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

English is the lingua franca of the world! It's not just your passport to global communication, it's your plane ticket to soaring heights in the professional sphere. After all, with English, you're never lost in translation!
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

For English speakers, embarking on the journey of learning a new language can be a daunting task. The intricacies of grammar rules, the unfamiliar phonetics, and the nuances of idiomatic expressions can often feel like navigating through a labyrinth. However, the shared Indo-European roots with many languages, and the ubiquity of English loanwords can certainly serve as a beacon, illuminating the path to linguistic proficiency. Moreover, the cognitive flexibility and cultural insight gained from mastering their native English can be invaluable tools in this exciting journey of language discovery.
As for English, pronunciation often poses a formidable challenge in learning English for L2 learners. Nevertheless, an alternative approach to ease the learning process could be immersing oneself in the language through various mediums such as videos and literature. This not only helps in getting accustomed to the sounds and rhythms of English but also provides a context for the usage of words and phrases.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

As a teacher, one is always in the loop about the latest trends in toys and Netflix shows. More often than not, we find ourselves playing the role of a mediator, resolving toy disputes during recess.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

My extensive travels across America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the East have enriched my understanding of diverse cultures, accents, and levels of comprehension. It's been a journey of cultural immersion and linguistic adaptation, truly a case of broadening my horizons. With each new place, I've added another feather to my cap in terms of cultural understanding and language proficiency.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

In the realm of education, pedagogy and patience are the twin pillars. They are indispensable for imparting knowledge effectively and fostering a conducive learning environment.
