About Sally

I have taught English in both one-on-one and classroom settings to varying ages from children to adults, at all levels of English ability. I use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to measure and evaluate the progress of my students. The system uses a 6-point scale to classify the student's level, while evaluating his or her proficiency in each area of the English language. I use this scale to set concrete goals for my students- the standard for the scale is to advance one level per 100 hours of study; For my students I aim to accomplish this in less than 80.

Each class that I teach is unique to the students' needs. If the student needs English for travel, they need to speak conversationally. If the student is just beginning, they will need to learn grammar and important phrases. If they are more advenaced, we will work on verbal phrases, fluency, and accent reduction. I don't teach out of a textbook.. I create each class specifically for the student!

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Sally, I am an English teacher from the United States, just outside of Chicago. In the US I attended Michigan State University and earned degrees in Business and Spanish Language. I've been teaching English while traveling for the past 3 years and have fallen in love with the profession.

My methodology for teaching English involves complete immersion in the language, meaning that from the very first day of class I will speak exclusively in English with the students. Although this may be difficult at first, I have found it to be the quickest way to achieve the desired result, to speak and understand English!

Antes eu sempre falava que entendia o que os outros falavam em inglês mas não conseguia me comunicar com eles, ela trabalha exatamente nisso e a melhoria é muito grande em um tempo bem curto! Agora, eu consigo entender e conversar com nativos da lingua inglesa por horas, sem problemas. Recomendo muito.

André!! What can I say about André. He is a wonderful and inspiring conversationalist who already became a friend rather than a student by the end of our very first period together. His English is at an extremely high level but he is very accepting of feedback and grateful for advice. It has been an absolutely joy to share my time, language, thoughts and ideas with André and I would recommend him 1,000% to any future teacher!
