About Anna

I am passionate about classical antiquity and the enduring presence of ancient culture in the modern world. I hold a Master’s degree in Classics and Ancient History and have almost ten years of experience in the field. My research interests lie in classical reception, particularly the use of ancient motifs in contemporary street art and graffiti. I have presented my work at various international conferences, allowing me to engage with scholars and broaden my academic perspective.

Alongside my research, I have a strong passion for ancient languages. I have studied Latin, Ancient Greek, Sumerian, Akkadian, and Coptic. This broad linguistic background has deepened both my understanding of the ancient world and my enthusiasm for sharing it with others.

About the lesson

My teaching is learner-centred, structured, and adapted to each student’s individual goals. I focus on developing practical confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while also building a secure understanding of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday English usage. Lessons are designed around the student’s level, interests, and reasons for learning English, whether these relate to work, study, travel, settling in the UK, or general communication.

As a non-native English speaker myself, I understand the challenges that learners can face when acquiring English. I recognise that grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and confidence in speaking can all present different obstacles. This perspective helps me explain language points clearly, anticipate common difficulties, and create a supportive environment in which students feel comfortable making mistakes and progressing at their own pace.

I use a variety of methods, including guided conversation, role-play, real-life situations, reading and listening activities, targeted grammar practice, vocabulary development, and writing tasks.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and include a clear structure: revision of previous material, introduction of new language, guided practice, and opportunities for independent communication. I provide constructive feedback throughout, with achievable goals to support consistent progress.

My lessons are suitable for teenagers and adults at all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced learners. I support students who wish to improve their everyday English, prepare for study or employment, develop professional communication skills, or gain greater confidence speaking English in real-life situations.
