About Tim

Hello, my name is Tim Biervliet, and I’m from the Netherlands.

I speak standard Dutch (Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands – ABN) and am an experienced, enthusiastic teacher of Dutch as a second language.

Beyond teaching, I have a strong passion for culture, history, and geography. With years of experience in language education, I’ve learned how to adapt blended learning methods to each student’s needs and interests, always with the goal of improving your Dutch effectively.

I also bring experience as a coach in various sectors in the Netherlands. I hold a TEFL certification and have taught extensively at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), working with both adults and children.

My lessons are tailored to your level, profession, and goals. I design materials for different fields such as IT, medicine, agriculture, construction, and business.

In addition to language, I enjoy incorporating aspects of Dutch culture—like food, art, music, street culture, and history—making your learning experience more engaging and authentic.

Dutch for Beginners

I’m here to make your Dutch learning journey both fun and effective! Each lesson is tailored to your interests, so the content stays engaging and relevant to you. We’ll start with building a solid foundation in vocabulary and grammar, using materials suited to your level and age. As you grow more confident, we’ll add writing and listening practice to help you fully immerse yourself in the language. I also provide feedback on homework outside of class, so you can continue learning between lessons and get the most out of our time together. Let’s begin this exciting adventure into the Dutch language today!

Conversational Dutch

Conversational Dutch is the core of my teaching style, woven into every lesson we do. Together, we’ll focus on real, practical dialogue to build your confidence in speaking. Along the way, we’ll also explore the subtle differences between Dutch as spoken across the Netherlands and in Flanders, giving you a broad and authentic understanding of the language. Get ready for lively conversations that will help you truly experience the richness and variety of Dutch!

Intensive Dutch

I bring extensive experience in intensive Dutch training, working with professionals from a wide range of industries and adapting materials to your specific goals. Writing tasks outside of class help us pinpoint the grammar and vocabulary areas that need extra attention. I have guided learners in successfully preparing for exams at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, B2+, and C1, including the equivalents in the Dutch Antilles and Curaçao. Together, we’ll ensure fast progress and give you the confidence to reach your Dutch language objectives!

Dutch for Children Children

Business Dutch

I specialize in business Dutch training, supporting expat professionals from diverse industries that want to relocate to the Netherlands and Belgium. Each program is tailored to your professional context, with customized materials designed to fit your needs. To make our lessons as efficient as possible, I provide feedback on homework submitted between sessions, allowing us to focus on practice and progress during class time. Together, we’ll strengthen your Dutch skills and enhance your professional communication with confidence.

NT2

I help learners prepare for the Dutch NT2 exam with targeted methods and materials tailored to their level. Our sessions cover all key areas: grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, and writing. We also work on Kennis van de Nederlandse Samenleving (Knowledge of Dutch Society), so you gain both language skills and cultural understanding. In addition, I have experience preparing students for the Naturalisatie Examen in Curaçao and Aruba. Together, we’ll make sure you feel confident and fully ready for your exam!

CNAVT

Let's gear our classes towards achieving success in the CNAVT exam! This certification is your ticket to showcasing your Dutch language proficiency on a global scale. With exams that are task-based and tailored to specific domains, you'll be well-prepared in my classes.
