About Lekha

Namaste, I’m Lekha, a passionate dancer, dedicated teacher, and lifelong student of the healing power of movement and music. My journey began with the age-old rhythms of Bharatanatyam, where every step, every glance, every hand gesture becomes a sacred offering. I hold a Senior Diploma in Bharatanatyam, through which I’ve deeply connected with the discipline, devotion, and expressive depth of this divine classical art. But my love for dance didn't stop there. Rooted in the cultural richness of Bengal, I also pursued a Junior Diploma in Rabindra Nitya — the lyrical, poetic dance form inspired by the soulful songs of Rabindranath Tagore. This form allowed me to explore the emotional landscape of music and movement — expressing joy, love, sorrow, and freedom in its purest, most human form. To expand my understanding of global rhythms and contemporary expression, I also completed a 2-year basic degree in Western dance forms, blending technique with creativity, tradition with innovation. In my classes and workshops, I bring together: - The discipline of Bharatanatyam - The poetic grace of Rabindra Nitya - The freedom of Western dance forms -And the healing essence of soulful Indian music Whether you're looking to learn classical dance, explore cultural roots, or simply move for healing and self-expression, I welcome you with open arms. Come, take the first step — Let’s dance together through rhythm, emotion, and silence… Let’s awaken the sacred within you.

  • 1) What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

Answer : I began my journey with movement and rhythm at a very young age. I started practicing yoga at the age of 6, and soon after, at 7 years old, I began learning Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam). By the time I was 8, I had also taken up harmonium and singing, which deepened my understanding of rhythm and expression. As the years went by, I explored various other disciplines — martial arts, swimming, and badminton. During summer vacations, I would spend almost the entire day playing badminton, completely immersed in the joy of the game. At 15, I achieved my Senior Diploma in Bharatanatyam and Junior Diploma in Bengali Folk Dance (Rabindra Nritya). Later, I expanded into Western dance forms like Hip-Hop, Freestyle, Jazz, and Salsa, completing a 2-year basic course at the Ganesh Acharya Dance Academy. These experiences have shaped me into a versatile performer and teacher, blending discipline, creativity, and physical expression across diverse art forms.
  • 2) What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

Answer : My favourite sports and activities include dance, swimming, and badminton. I currently practise dance at an advanced level, which keeps me active, disciplined, and creatively engaged. As simple hobbies, I enjoy reading, singing, and playing musical instruments such as kartalas, mridanga, harmonium, and the casio. I would love to further refine my singing skills and improve my proficiency in these instruments, as they bring me both joy and personal growth.
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

Answer : My motivation comes from a deep love for what I do. I dance in bhajans that glorify the Supreme Lord, and through every movement I express my devotion and love for Him. Dancing, singing, and practising these devotional arts help me connect spiritually at a deeper level. When I sing heartfelt prayers and chant soulful mantras, I experience a profound sense of peace and joy within. This inner happiness and spiritual connection are what inspire my passion and keep me dedicated every day.
  • 4) Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

Answer : Yes, I have several achievements that I’m truly proud of. I hold a Senior Diploma in Bharatnatyam (Indian Classical Dance) and a Junior Diploma in Rabindra Nritya (West Bengal Folk Dance). I have also completed a 2-year degree in Western Dance from the Ganesh Acharya Dance Academy.
Apart from dance, I have taken multiple drawing examinations and received various awards for public speaking. One of my proudest achievements is winning 1st place in the Evaluation Speech Contest at the Barclays Toastmasters Club. I have also completed all five levels of the Dynamic Leadership Pathway in Toastmasters International, earning all five crowns, which represents commitment, leadership, and continuous growth. am also a Green Belt in Kukusuddin Karate, which reflects my discipline, focus, and commitment to physical fitness and martial arts.
I am also a Green Belt in Kukusuddin Karate, which reflects my discipline, focus, and commitment to physical fitness and martial arts.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

Answer : My achievements and challenges have shaped me into a more disciplined, focused, and resilient sportsperson. Earning diplomas in classical and folk dance, completing a western dance degree, progressing to a green belt in Kukusuddin Karate, and excelling in public speaking have all taught me the value of dedication, consistency, and hard work.
Challenges—whether in mastering complex dance movements, building strength in martial arts, or developing confidence in public speaking—have helped me grow mentally and emotionally. They taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of pushing through limitations.
Each achievement has boosted my confidence, while every challenge has made me stronger. Together, they have helped me evolve into a sportsperson with discipline, passion, humility, and a continuous drive to improve.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

Answer : If I had the chance to go for a jog with a famous athlete, I would choose P.T. Usha, the legendary Indian sprinter known for her discipline, dedication, and incredible resilience. I deeply admire her journey—from limited resources to becoming one of India’s greatest athletes.
During our jog, I would love to ask her:
What mindset helped you stay motivated during tough phases of training and competition?
How did you balance physical strength with mental endurance?
What habits or routines contributed most to your success?
What advice would you give to someone striving for excellence in their chosen sport or art?
Her insights on discipline, determination, and consistency would inspire me to grow even further in my own journey as a dedicated dancer, martial artist, and sportsperson.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

Answer : I help people stay motivated by encouraging them to surround themselves with positive, driven individuals who naturally bring out the best in them. I remind them not to feel jealous or discouraged by others’ success, but instead to remain in a mindset of abundance. I often share the example of a swan — gracefully choosing the good and leaving aside the negative. I motivate people to adopt this approach: appreciate others’ strengths, learn from them, and let go of their shortcomings. This shift in perspective helps them stay inspired, confident, and focused on their own growth.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in sports?

Answer : What makes me a Superprof is the rare combination of strong technical expertise and deep artistic discipline that I bring to my teaching. I am an NIT Surat graduate with a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, and I have 2 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer at Barclays. This background allows me to teach Java programming and mathematics with clarity, structure, and a strong problem-solving approach.

At the same time, my advanced training in Indian classical dance, folk dance, western dance, and devotional music—including bhajans, kirtans, harmonium, kartals, and mridanga—gives me the ability to teach artistic subjects with authenticity, precision, and passion. My experience also extends to public speaking, leadership training, and martial arts, which further strengthen my communication, discipline, and mentoring skills.

Across all subjects I teach—technical or artistic—I focus on building confidence, simplifying complex concepts, motivating students, and helping them grow with consistency and joy. My ability to blend logic with creativity, discipline with compassion, and structure with inspiration is what truly makes me a Superprof.
