About John
I'm from Miami, Florida. I owe my life to Christ Jesus, Whom I love chiefly, and I love the United States of America very profoundly. My exposure to different accents has existed since my childhood. I grew up in a rough section of town along with two great parents, an older sister who is also an English teacher, and two younger brothers who are both medical pros—the older, a U.S. Army veteran, and the younger, a paramedic/firefighter with more than 15 years' experience. My affinity for English comes from our parents, our teachers, and sportscasters! These deep reservoirs of instruction, particularly in my youngest years, taught me not only how to construct sentences properly but also how to voice them with maximum effectiveness. I can vocalize English with several accents, so I understand the challenges many people face when speaking and writing it. I've taught English for nearly 35 years.

English seems harder than it really is. It gives big, complex names to easy skills. As we use an effective and often fun series of learning techniques, we will cover any questions you have. As radio preacher Steve Brown once said, "The only dumb question is one you don't ask." You will always be free to ask why Americans use certain expressions or pronunciations—or any other questions that come to mind.
