About Darrel
I help new and developing managers make day-to-day leadership clearer and more manageable. My approach is practical: bring a real situation and we work through the expectations, communication and next decisions together.
As Co-Founder of NLX, my work examines how organisational systems, unclear expectations and overload affect performance. I founded NeuroHub UK, have published organisational-performance thinking through theHRDIRECTOR and have experience in regulated assessment as a former DVSA driving examiner.
I have completed the ILM Level 6 Diploma in Leadership and Management; diploma delivery and confirmation of post-nominal entitlement are pending. I also hold Equality and Diversity training.
You can expect calm questions, specific feedback and a realistic plan. I teach practical leadership skills and provide mentoring; I do not provide legal advice or make employment decisions for you.

New to managing people, preparing a difficult conversation or struggling to make team priorities clear? These one-to-one online sessions help new managers, team leaders and professionals stepping into leadership practise the skills they need in real situations.
In your first paid 60-minute session, bring one challenge. We will clarify the outcome, identify the main source of confusion and work on a practical response. You might leave with a conversation outline, a clearer delegation brief or a prioritised action plan.
We can work on setting expectations, giving constructive feedback, delegation, workload priorities, meeting communication and understanding how different working needs affect performance. We use anonymised examples and practise the conversation or approach together.
To enquire, tell me your role and one situation you would like help with. For example: 'I have recently become a team leader and want to give clearer feedback.' No polished explanation is needed.
The free 30-minute introductory conversation lets us discuss your goal and check that my experience fits. Personalised mentoring and rehearsal take place in paid sessions. No package commitment is needed to start.

I have known Darrel for many years personally and professionally and his passion for supporting neurodivergent people has always been evident
His enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine commitment to helping others make a real difference.
I have attended several of Darrels sessions and they have been worth every penny. Not only have they had a significant impact on me personally but they have also helped me develop my understanding of AI, enabling me to work more effectively and confidently in my professional role
What sets Darrel apart is his warm, supportive and non judgmental approach. He creates a comfortable environment where people feel understood, valued and empowered to learn and grow
Whether you’re struggling to manage your neurodivergence or trying to navigate the rapidly evolving world of AI, Darrel has a unique ability to make complex topics accessible and practical
He also provides outstanding value for money, delivering high quality support, insight and guidance.
I cannot recommend Darrel highly enough. If you’re considering working with him, give him a try, you won’t be disappointedDarrel has a natural ability to help people look at situations differently and get beyond the surface of a problem.
His approach isn’t about telling someone what they should do or giving them all the answers. Instead, he asks the right questions, challenges assumptions and helps people work through situations for themselves, building confidence in their own decisions along the way.
One of his real strengths is recognising that everyone thinks, communicates and processes information differently. He adapts his approach to the individual rather than expecting the individual to adapt to him, creating an environment that feels supportive, patient and non-judgemental.
He is particularly good at taking situations that feel complicated or overwhelming and breaking them down into something clearer and more manageable. Importantly, he is also willing to challenge someone when needed rather than simply telling them what they want to hear.
I would highly recommend Darrel to anyone looking for an approachable and thoughtful coach who will genuinely listen, challenge their thinking and help them find a way forward that works for them.Darrel is a dedicated and highly organised History teacher who is passionate about helping students achieve their full potential. His lessons are carefully planned, well-structured, and tailored to each student's needs, making even challenging historical topics clear and engaging.
Students and parents particularly value his detailed feedback, which helps identify strengths, address areas for improvement, and build confidence for exams. With his patient approach and thorough preparation, Darrel creates a supportive learning environment where students can make consistent progress and develop a deeper understanding of History.I'm finding my sessions with Darrel insightful and extremely helpful. He has a great toolkit of strategies and suggestions that can help with situations and challenges that I face as someone neurodiverse. Darrel communicates with empathy and care, and I find it easy to be open and vulnerable with him. Highly recommend Darrel!
