About Joana

I'm a biotechnology scientist with a passion for teaching. I combine real-world scientific experience with over five years of GCSE Science tutoring and two years as a secondary school Teaching Assistant. My goal is to make science clear, enjoyable, and help every student reach their full potential.

Teaching Philosophy
My tutoring approach focuses on building understanding, confidence, and curiosity. I adapt every lesson to suit each student’s learning style, abilities, and goals, ensuring they feel supported and motivated.

Subject Specialisms
I have over 5 years of experience tutoring GCSE Science and 2 years working as a Teaching Assistant in secondary schools. I support students across all ranges of science topics.

Inclusive & Supportive Teaching
I specialise in working with SEN students and students for whom English is a second language (EAL). I adapt my explanations, use clear language, and apply proven strategies to make lessons accessible, engaging, and effective for every learner.

My classroom experience has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, while my current role as a scientist allows me to bring real-world applications into my lessons, helping students see how science works beyond textbooks.
