About Chris
I am a Psychology with Education graduate with over 4 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, supporting both primary and secondary school students in their academic development. Through this role, I have worked closely with students of different abilities, helping them build confidence, improve their understanding of key subjects, and develop effective study habits.
My academic background has given me a strong understanding of how students learn and how to support them in a patient, structured, and encouraging way. I focus on creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace.

My approach to tutoring is centred around building confidence, understanding, and making learning feel manageable and engaging for students. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace.
In my lessons, I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into clear and simple steps. I use a combination of guided practice, discussion, and practical examples to help students fully understand what they are learning rather than just memorising information. For English lessons, this might include reading comprehension practice, essay planning, vocabulary development, and structured writing support. For younger students, I often use interactive activities to keep lessons engaging.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, which allows enough time to review previous work, introduce new concepts, and practise applying them. I also adapt lessons to each student's needs, whether they need help with homework, exam preparation, or building general confidence in a subject.
I hold a degree in Psychology with Education and have over 4 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, supporting both primary and secondary school students. Through this experience, I have worked closely with students who need additional support, helping them improve their understanding, organisation, and confidence in the classroom.
My lessons are aimed at KS2 and KS3 students, typically aged 7–14, who want support with English and general academic skills. This includes students who want to improve their reading and writing, prepare for school assessments, or simply gain more confidence in their abilities.
