About Tanya
After successfully finishing my PGCE course in St Mary's University Twickenham, I have been teaching Mathematics in secondary grammar school for the last four years. During this time I have become aware of students' needs for gaining higher level as making Maths enjoyable and students responsible learners.
I also have five years tutoring experience on one-to-one basis where I have been helping students to cope with Maths, to gain more confidence, to achieve higher level in school and enhance their mathematical abilities. I focus on deep understanding of the topics through explanation in the best individual way chosen for each of the tutees.
Mathematics is the only one subject I have been striving for excellence since I started in school as a student. Now as an experienced Maths teacher and tutor having all qualifications and degrees in Mathematics, I work to bring the best out of my students and get satisfaction out of their progression. Lessons provide maths tuition for students at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (GCSE, AS and A levels of their schooling - years 7 to 13). Every lesson, no matter whether it is an online, in-person, one-to-one or group lesson, has the following main components:
• specific, transparent Success criteria are set
• prior knowledge is gauged before dealing with the new material
• practice listening carefully ‘student's voice’ and verbalizing the thinking process
• focused HOMEWORK to practise the new skills
• feedback on the homework is given at the beginning of the following session
• Track the progress of each student based on their homework results using RAG scoring
