About Kiefer
I am a massive, unashamed nerd. I hold a PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology in which I explored the role stone tools played in the evolution of music among our earliest ancestors. Studying this has given me an extremely broad set of background knowledge and skills which I am delighted to share with all my students. Having taught at Universities in the UK, I am well aware of the workload (extreme), the marking criteria (confusing and mysterious) and the limitations of your assigned tutors (low teaching time and even less time to meet personally). I have published and continue to publish both academic and popular science writing and have recently finished co-authoring a textbook chapter - my subject is my passion and I hope to inspire a love of anthropology and archaeology in anyone I come into contact with!

Coming into university can be extremely intimidating. The work is constant and you are suddenly thrown into a completely new world of research, referencing and essay writing. Having passed and published my PhD and taught across university modules I am well aware of the struggles undergraduates go through and am here to help with compassion and enthusiasm. My approach is focused on building confidence and general study/writing skills. Basic building blocks that will help you to produce high-quality work throughout your university career. Each hour long session will focus on thinking like a researcher, critical thinking and structuring your writing. These are things which your course tutors generally don't have time to help with in the detail you need. You will help guide sessions so we can focus on the areas you struggle with most -Ultimately the goal is to make studying your subject a labour of love, not 3-4 years of hell.
