I use an interactive, step-by-step framework designed to help students break down complex problems into small manageable pieces. My goal is to ensure my students can conceptualize math rather than simply memorize it.
As an incoming engineering major who recently graduated Summa Cum Laude, I am uniquely positioned between a peer and instructor. I just navigated the modern school curriculum myself, meaning the common struggles of studying math are fresh in my mind.
Typical Lesson Plan:
-Warm-Up: fun activity to activate the student's brain and review previous concepts
-Target Instruction: review a concept the student is struggling with or introduce a new concept
-Guided Practice: work through problems together and allow the student to gain confidence
-Wrap-Up: quick reflection and give the student the opportunity to ask any last-minute questions
My lessons are tailored for elementary and middle school students (grades K-8). Whether your child is struggling with basic fractions or looking to get ahead of their class curriculum, I adapt my pacing to match their unique learning speed.
