About Yahya

I’m an English student, have just finished my A level English Literature & Language studies as well as History & RS. I’ve studied poetry, comparative writing, creative writing & many books. I’ve always loved English, especially creative writing. I’m now studying at an undergraduate programme.

About the lesson

The teaching method I prefer for English Literature, is to help students with analysing the text and providing them with many annotations so that their ideas can form together and they can get a sense of how and what to analyse. I’d then like them to write mini essays with these annotations to see how they connect these ideas together. I’d do the same when teaching poetry. For English Language, I like to give students different images & settings or random storylines and ask them to write passages. If a student does not improve under me then I’ve failed, I want to push students and make the lessons as engaging and fun as possible, not just like a normal school lesson.

Perfect! Yahya is an incredibly patient tutor who has helped me improve my writing skills. He is very good at teaching the various writing techniques in a simple and easy to understand manner and is good at helping me reinforce those techniques through exercises. I would highly recommend him!

Perfect! Really organised with good learning tips for my son. Lessons are planned in advance but also adapts to give clarity and ensure concepts are well understood before going on to the next session. My son is really enjoying his lessons and I am so glad we found Yahya
