About Buena

The majority of my education has come from a progressive private school where I built my foundation in math and science and really developed the ability to problem solve. Thus, I always have and will always prioritize not getting the "correct" answer, but really gaining a deep understanding in the processes used and ways of working through problems in mathematics and physics. There is absolutely no shame or penalty in "wrong" answers, as long as the student is engaged and trying their best, I am sure that they will achieve the results they desire and will be proud of what they are able to accomplish in the end.

About the lesson

I enjoy working close with students on strengthening their knowledge on their desired subject. I employ a progressive approach that involves helping the student come to their own conclusions which in turn strengthens their foundation in the subject because it allows them to understand not just how to do something, but also WHY it is being done.

I do this by first giving the student some example problems and walking through them slowly, then offering them a couple problems to attempt themselves, and guiding them towards the solutions while encouraging them to think it through logically.

By doing this, the student not only learns how to do these specific problems, but it helps to expand their problem solving capabilities in general by pushing them to use what they already know to discover what they don't yet know.
